Improving Health through Meditation
Meditation helps you to relax both mentally and physically. It is therefore one of the best techniques for improving your health. It is also an easy health routine to maintain even when you are travelling since it usually just requires a quiet place for you to be able to do it. The steps outlined below will ensure that you would have a relaxing session of meditation in your hotel room.
Make sure that you will not be disturbed while you are meditating. Take the phone off the hook, switch your mobile to silent mode, close the windows, and hang up a Do Not Disturb sign on your door. Once you have made the room as soundproof as possible, choose a comfortable spot where you can rest your body without putting stress on any part of it. You do not actually need to sit in a cross-legged position, but just pick a position that would help you to relax. For example, you can sit in an armchair or even lie down on the bed.
Pick a spot on the wall, if you are seated, or on the ceiling, if you are lying down. Stare at this particular spot and concentrate on it. Keep your eyes open and fixed on that point and start a breathing exercise. Take a deep breath and hold it for a second or two, and then slowly exhale. Visualise that you are exhaling your stress away as you do this. Become conscious of the very act of breathing as the oxygen fills your lungs and then gets expelled from your body. While you are concentrating on your breathing, allow your mind to empty itself of all thoughts.
Meditation gets easier the more you practise it, so make sure that you include it in your daily routine. Set some time preferably in the early morning for you to do these meditation exercises.
